From The Desk of Principal

With the mission of spreading education among the poor and underprivileged sections of society, Mahadevananda Mahavidyalaya was established by Swami Jyotirmayananda Giri Maharaj in 1968. The demographic characteristics of the backward regions of North 24 Parganas were given due consideration at the time of the college’s establishment.

At present, classes are held in three buildings — the Main College Building, the Annexe Building, and the Rashtraguru Surendranath Banerjee Campus — all located in Monirampore, Barrackpore, approximately 3.6 km from Barrackpore Railway Station, West Bengal.

Despite having three buildings, the college faces infrastructural challenges that hinder the further expansion of educational facilities. Currently, we offer Honours courses in fifteen subjects and General courses in twenty one subjects.

The advent of globalization and its emergent challenges demand serious attention from policymakers and intellectuals. Competition has become increasingly intense. To meet the growing demand for quality education and to address global challenges, the college must uphold a high standard of academic excellence.

I believe that, despite limited resources, the college — with the help of its efficient and dedicated faculty members and supportive staff — continues to meet the needs of students from diverse social backgrounds. These students require constant guidance and support to progress toward excellence, moving steadily from darkness to light.
